Helping Your Struggling Teen – Family – Teenagers

Every teen is approached and struggles with the ever increasing pressure of peers to “do” alcohol, drugs, and sex. Teens struggle with this because of the need to ‘fit in’ and be accepted among others. Your teen could be faced with this pressure at school, by the friends they are with, activities they participate in, or your neighborhood. This is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly and should be given a lot of your attention as a parent. With the social pressure, it can make it harder for your teen to make smart decisions. These struggles are only some of many that teens face. This impacts the teen in a negative way and hurts friendships, family relationships, future goals, academics, and more. The teen is then confused and lost with the bad influences they have met.

There are many ways to approach this struggle with your teen, and a boarding school is one solution. Giving and trusting your child with another is a very hard thing to do. We support entrusting God to positively impact your teen and giving them the opportunity to have a strong relationship with the Lord. Abundant Life Academy (ALA) is a Christian Boarding School for troubled teens. They are enrolled into a Christ-centered environment where they can know, chose, and give themselves, using the biblical tools that ALA encourages them to use. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit to help these struggling teens through these changes, ALA gives each student support (both spiritual and emotional), holds each student accountable and responsible for their actions and choices, 24/7 staff supervision and they are offered accredited academics, leadership, ministry outreaches, relationship restoration, athletics, community service, horsemanship, and much more. Your teen isn’t the only one who learns at ALA. The parents are given many tools for working with today’s teen and at the bi-monthly Family Conference; they have an opportunity learn the same processes their student has learned. During these conferences, they also are able to visit with their teen in a structured environment and witness firsthand how the student is maturing in the ALA program. We give the family the opportunity to positively grow and experience the mix between their personality and their teens. The staff prays continually for God’s love to revive the student thereby restoring the family. Be a part of God’s miracles at ALA!
